How Do I Enable Video on Spotify?
There are two kinds of videos you can enable on Spotify, but they may not both be available in your region or to your account. Video is available on a limited selection of podcasts and songs, and that is enabled by default. Spotify also has a looping video feature called canvas that is not available to everyone. If you don’t see a canvas option in your settings, it may not be available in your region or to your specific account.
If you aren’t able to view videos or canvas loops, you may need to turn off the data saving feature or enable canvas. Here’s how to do that:
Open the Spotify app. Tap Settings (gear icon). Make sure the Audio Quality toggle is Off, If it’s on, tap it to turn it off. Scroll down to the Playback section or tap Playback, and make sure the Canvas toggle is On. If it’s off, tap it to turn it on. This setting is found in the Playback submenu in some versions of the Spotify app. With these settings, videos should play in Spotify when they are available. If you don’t want Canvas videos, leave that toggle off.
Are There Videos on Spotify?
The Spotify app has the ability to play videos, and there are videos on Spotify, but not every podcast and song has an associated video. Spotify has committed to bringing more video to the platform, but it has been a slow process.
Here’s how to watch a video on Spotify:
Tap Search. Tap the search field, and type the name of a podcast or song. Tap a podcast or song in the search results. Tap Play. Tap the video in the mini player. If the podcast or song has an associated video, it will play.
Why Can’t I Get Video on Spotify?
If you’re unable to get video on Spotify, make sure you’ve disabled the Audio Quality and Download Audio Only toggles in the settings. In some versions of the Spotify app, the Audio Quality setting specifies that enabling it will disable videos, while that isn’t made clear in other versions of the app.
If you’ve already checked those settings, make sure the podcast or song actually has an associated video on Spotify. Videos aren’t available for every podcast or song, so try other options to see if they work. If you aren’t able to view a video for a specific podcast or song, but you can for others, that specific podcast or song probably doesn’t have a video on Spotify yet. Videos may be added for these podcasts and songs later, as Spotify is still in the process of adding videos.
If you’re unable to view canvas videos, or you just don’t see the canvas option, then canvas just isn’t available on your account, device, or region at this time. The feature is not universally available, so you can check different devices to see if they work, or just wait to see if the feature is enabled on your account later on.
